Patience Isn't What You Think

Hey Reader,

Nick and I are trying something new on the YouTube channel... a TikTok reaction video.

We hope it'll make talking about money feel less intimidating — and maybe even a little fun.

Have you ever wondered why some people seem remarkably patient while pursuing big goals?

I was asking myself that question last week, and a quote I've heard dozens of times from Hormozi finally clicked:

Patience is figuring out what you're doing in the meantime.

My interest in painting and pottery has been steadily growing over the past five years. But the journey of growing my skills in these areas is slow.

Some days, I'm discouraged by how far I still have to go.

I've noticed something interesting, though — the more I invest in my practice, the more patient I become.

I'm enjoying the process so much that I stop fixating on the gap between where I am and where I want to be.

The same thing is true of our finances.

  • If all you think about is paying off debt, you'll obsess over how much debt is left.
  • If all you think about is retirement, you'll constantly notice how far away it feels.
  • If all you think about is buying the house, you'll keep seeing the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

But everything changes when you fall in love with the process.

Patience isn't passively waiting for your financial life to change. It's becoming the kind of person who faithfully manages the money you've been given today.

Every budget routine, every intentional tradeoff, every quarterly planning session shapes not only your financial future — but the kind of person you're becoming along the way.

So if your financial goals still feel a long way off, don't be discouraged. Keep doing today's work faithfully. Patience has a way of growing alongside it.

Until next week,
Nick + Hanna
